¿Porque Estoy Corriendo?

Having served the Watts community as a teacher-leader in a public high school, I have been privileged to be in the midst of the power of this unique, resilient and talented community. I have also been exposed to the many challenges my students and their families face. As I began expanding my community work outside of the school community, I have been heartbroken to learn that the needs of this brave community and district (one of the poorest in California) are not met by our current State Representative. To ensure that the families of this district may fulfill their highest potential, I realized that I need to step up my fight and leave the classroom to become their fiercest advocate in Sacramento.

Join me in the fight for equity

Aire limpia, agua limpia, y comida limpia

Affordable Housing & Ending Homelessness

Health Care for All

No one should have to decide between visiting the doctor or buying food. Everyone deserves access to high quality medical care, including reproductive health, mental health, and substance abuse coverage.

Universal Pre-K, Free College Tuition, & Comprehensive Education Reform

Public education should be the great equalizer. However, the primary school education system has not supported our low income Latinx and Black students. I will advocate for increased public education funding and free & universal pre-K.

Comprehensive Criminal Justice Reform

Our criminal justice system is racist, cruel, and beyond repair, draining resources from our community and breaking apart families. We must push for comprehensive criminal justice reform that divests from prisons and policing, invests in restorative justice and alternatives to incarceration, and that truly values our communities.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Immigrants are our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors; for many of us, we are immigrants. We help create the backbone of the community, yet we are denied access basic rights and resources that would allow us to thrive. Immigration reform can't wait.

Good Jobs for All

California has built the world’s fifth largest economy of the backs of everyday people who are now barely able to make ends meet. There is a clear lack of upward economic mobility for residents in our district, and we deserve better.

Help us fight!

This is why I need your help. There are many forces that don't want to see systemic racism end and they will spend every dime they have to keep me from winning this race. Any amount of donation will help us fund a campaign that will win and fight FOR YOU!
